Sandra Morales is originally from Guatemala. She has many years of experience working and volunteering in community-based organizations in a variety of roles, including: providing direct services, organizing, managing programs, and serving in boards of directors of several community organizations. She has worked and volunteered in the areas of domestic violence, immigrants and workers’ rights, adult education, workforce development, and workers’ cooperative development. She has also worked in research in academic settings where she has contributed to research projects related to low-paying jobs, and the informal economy. She has been exploring opportunities to develop workers’ cooperatives and promoting this business model in Chicago for many years. Sandra is involved in the community in different ways, including serving as parent representative in a Local School Council. She enjoys outdoor activities and exploring new places. Sandra holds a Bachelors in Arts from Northeastern University and a Masters Degree in Urban Planning and Policy from UIC.
